me
welcome
to my website
it's an online diary, updated daily,
normally with photos ....
On
the 9th of november 2000, I got a new watch.
I like to think
i'm a collector of watches.
It's a Casio WQV-1 and it takes digital pictures.
It can store 100, 120x120 pixel, 16 greyscale images.
This web site is an archive of all the pictures I've taken with it.
Well, the ones I haven't deleted or overwritten.
Over the months, the diary part of the site has become more important.
on
new year's eve 2001, i collected a new watch.
the wqv-10 is a watch camera, like the wqv-1.
but, it takes colour photos on a colour screen.
so, i've given the site a spring clean.
after 2 months of colour watch pics, i've reverted to black and white.
the wqv-10 would only let me take 2 pictures, before shutting itself down.
it may be a fault. i might contact casio. but i did order it from abroad.
i'm back in colour again. woohoo. i bought a very cheap digital camera.
a l'espion. same resolution as the colour watch camera, only £40.
well, the l'espion proved to be cheap, but it started to be glitchy.
not reliable at all. so, i joined the blink bandwagon ( about 20 people
at work have one now ).
£40, better resolution, more reliable, better build quality, just
better all round.
i'd buy one, if i were you. i am me and i bought 2 !
well, i sent the wqv-10 to casio's uk repair centre, it has a worldwide
guarantee after all. and now, july, i have it back and it seems to be fine.
i'm happier with this than the blink ( which will now be the webcam ).
i started to get glitches with the watch camera, it would reset itself to
12:00 on jan 01.
i now use a snap camera, the successor to the blink camera.
we'll have to see how long this lasts....
the snap camera didn't last that long, a couple of weeks, was it ?
i lost all 50 photos from my london trip and 30 on a following day.
that was the last straw, i bought a fuji slimshot camera for £80.
lee's had one for months, much better than the blink / snap.
after a little glitchy start, i'm very impressed.
the slim shot camera proved to be very good.
but in june it went doolally. shame. it's provided good service.
back to the trusty bw camera watch.
until i get a phone upgrade .....
lee to the rescue
he bought a fuji slimshot months before me, but hasn't used it much
well, we've done a swap, my usb bluetooth thingy for his camera
a very good deal
the best thing - no dirt on the lens
i switched to a logitech camera, this one had a cover over the lens
it went to new zealand with me, performed well. until i dropped it, this
sent the exposures off.
i bought another one as soon as i got back.
a few months later, i was struck with gadget lust
a new sony digital camera, small and well featured, the U50
very very nice. not a novelty camera, like the previous ones
this one is a proper camera made smaller
i'm very happy with it
the U50 lasted 2 years and 9000 photos, until finally stopping
it didn't slowly fail, it just stopped, which is good, i think
finding a replacement was something i'd been thinking about for months
there's just nothing like it on the market anymore
i found a great deal on a sanyo xacti E6. 6 megapixel, 3x optical zoom,
large screen, etc... £120
i'd seen this model about 8 months prior and thought how nice it was and
how it might be a successor ...
it's a very good little camera.
